About Dr. Kacy Jo

Dr. Kacy Jo-Williams, DMD is an airway-focused dental provider with extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of tethered oral tissues in infants, children, and adults. She has performed hundreds of frenectomies in clinical practice and is widely recognized for her integrative, function-first approach to care that supports optimal healing, craniofacial development, and long-term airway health.

Dr. Kacy Jo-Williams grew up in South Korea, where Eastern medicine played a central role in her early understanding of health and healing. After moving to the United States, she was introduced to Western medicine and went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She practiced general dentistry for five years before discovering airway dentistry—a pivotal moment that reshaped the direction of her career.

As Dr. Jo-Williams treated increasing numbers of patients with tethered oral tissues (TOT), she recognized the limitations of a purely surgical approach and began integrating Eastern medicine principles into her clinical philosophy. This integrative model led to improved post-release healing, enhanced function, and more predictable outcomes for both pediatric and adult patients.

Her professional mission became deeply personal after becoming a mother and experiencing her own breastfeeding challenges related to TOT. That experience transformed her protocols for infant frenectomy care and strengthened her commitment to educating families and providers on comprehensive, holistic treatment pathways that extend beyond the release itself.

Dr. Jo-Williams has completed advanced postgraduate training in frenectomy and airway-centered care through multiple leading programs, including the Breathe Institute, and has completed advanced coursework with Dr. Richard Baxter, Dr. Tammarie Heit, and Dr. Chelsea Pinto. She has extensive hands-on experience with the DEKA laser platform and routinely incorporates laser frenectomy techniques into her daily practice.

She works in close collaboration with lactation consultants, myofunctional therapists, chiropractors, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, interdisciplinary care. As a faculty educator with the Vivos Institute, Dr. Kacy Jo-Williams brings real-world clinical insight to her teaching, focusing on assessment, case selection, surgical technique, pre- and post-operative protocols, and team-based care models.

Dr. Jo-Williams currently lives in Colorado with her husband and two young children, where she continues to practice, teach, and advocate for thoughtful, evidence-based frenectomy care that prioritizes function, healing, and whole-patient outcomes.
